A 1993 Wooden Railway Thomas sat in storage for years, waiting for his chance to finally be free and in the care of a new loving owner. When he was finally removed from his plastic storage bin and sold on eBay, he soon found that his new owner, Manny, wasn’t what he had hoped for.
“I was excited when a box cutter sliced open my bubble wrap envelope thing.” Thomas recalled. “But as soon as he finished popping all the bubbles, he took my picture and re-listed me on his own eBay store.”
Manny didn’t just stop at one listing though, he took two more pictures of Thomas against different backgrounds, and listed him under two more accounts. All the listings were outrageously priced.
“I had dreams, you know; I wanted to be a star. I used to imagine a new owner using me for their Fan-Series.” Thomas said dreamily, closing his grey eyes. “Yes… Something experimental… Something grand… With ‘Sudrian’ in the title.”
Thomas doesn’t expect to live the dream anytime soon, as nobody in their right mind would pay $100 for him. Manny doesn’t sympathize with Thomas’s plight, however.
“Someday a kid who doesn’t know any better will buy Thomas with his mom’s credit card.” He explained. “So it’s actually a very fair deal since the kid is willing to pay that much! Just be glad I didn’t list it at a higher price to scam the kid for more.”
Though disappointed by his current situation, Thomas is still patiently awaiting the day he can finally go to a loving owner.
“Maybe one day Manny will give up and list me at a decent $20,” Thomas sighed, “but for now, I guess I’ll just get used to getting my picture taken.”
