The Thomas Twitter community woke to a strange silence on Wednesday, as it turns out, everyone blocked each other the night before.
Tuesday night saw another argument about shipping break out. Someone made an irrational statement that everyone who dislikes the idea of shipping in Thomas was Homophobic, and after people explained how stupid the statement was, all hell broke loose.
Everyone turned on each other and arguments broke out in every sub community, niche, group chat, and discord server. By the time the dust cleared the next morning, nobody knew what anyone was saying because they had all blocked each other.
“It was wild. Everyone was going crazy and flipping out.” Said TWRC user, Matt Nick. “I even heard the guys who run ThomasTankMerch beat each other up in real life.”
Witnesses of the worldwide web brawl claim it was way too out of hand.
“One guy was being a douche bag defending his weird obsession with the sex lives of Tank Engines, and I can understand the negative reaction to that,” Matt Nick explained, “But then this guy’s friends got all pissy that people were disagreeing with him, started arguing with everyone, and it all went downhill from there.”
Matt Nick, Matt Nicolaus, and GodredFan420 are the only users who didn’t get involved in the arguments, as they were actually doing something with their lives at the time.
“Why do we even need to be discussing love at all in this community? It’s a kids show about machines.” Matt Nicolaus stated. “Can’t we just get along and discuss the show itself instead of arguing over this stuff? You’d think that after the last argument, people would just stop making a scene out of their OTP’s.”
It soon became apparent that the community was completely dead, and the only way to keep up with anyone anymore was YouTube.
“This is what happens when you’re too trigger happy with the block button.” Nicolaus sighed. “I can understand blocking someone who stalks or harasses you, but that’s not what happened the other night. Now nobody is friends anymore, and we’re all sad.”
All hope wasn’t lost though. GodredFan420 got the two Matt’s to help him reach out to the Thomas Community.
“If we can use our reach as the only three guys who aren’t blocked to help everyone make up, maybe we can get things back to normal.” Fan420 explained. “Hopefully we can convince people to unblock each other and apologize, or maybe even unblock each other just because they shouldn’t have been petty in the first place.”
